HISTORY TRUNKIES

UNPACKING THE PAST

Inquire. Interact. Imagine.

History Trunkies unboxes the past one trunk at a time. We specialise in designing learning experiences with community organisations and around marginalised histories.

Our customised workshops and courses provide interactive, inquiry-based and imaginative experiences. Taking history out of trunks that may have been carried across borders and generations. They can stored in memories, archival spaces as well as conceptual boxes.

In relationship with organisations and learners we unpack and reflect on understanding their historical significance.

Ajay Bhardwaj, Filmaker, Canada

"1964: Making History is an admirable intergenerational, intercommunity exhibition on arts, archives, history, and memory around radical diasporic pasts in the UK. To commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Indian Workers' Association's (IWA) invitation to Malcolm X to visit Smethwick in 1965...I was thrilled and deeply moved by the work of young Desis, who visualised the radical history...It is a work of impeccable integrity, love and solidarity that strives to own up our radical pasts."

Primary schools students, The Brilliant Club

“It was a very enjoyable experience for me as it completely changed my
opinion on history due to me having my own freedom to choose what topic I wanted to do my final assignment on.”

“I really enjoyed every second of this course. It taught me to always look at the positive side and negative side (pros and cons) and always make sure to be as accurate as I can.”

“We learned that museums don't tell us everything: they have stolen some things from other countries and claimed their own..."
